David Duchovny has checked out of a rehabilitation center for sex addiction, according to his lawyer, Stanton “Larry” Stein.
“David is out of rehab and about to start a new movie,” Stein tells PEOPLE. “He successfully completed his treatment.”
The actor, 48, voluntarily entered a facility to treat the addiction in August, Stein told PEOPLE at the time.
Duchovny has been married to actress Téa Leoni since 1997. They have two children, daughter Madelaine West, 9, and son Kyd, 6.

From The LA Times:
In some ways, it’s difficult to tell who is more sex obsessed: David Duchovny, or the rest of us.
The 48-year-old actor issued a statement in August, saying through his lawyer that he’d voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction, and asked for “respect and privacy” as he and his family dealt with the issue. Then again, you already know this by now, because we in the media (and, admit it, you at home) bypassed the whole respecting-his-privacy bit and ran with this story like dogs with a bone.
It was too easy, after all. Duchovny had by this time gained much notoriety –- and a Golden Globe -– for his portrayal of Hank Moody in “Californication,” the Showtime series about a writer who happens to have lots and lots … and lots … of sex. And so it came to be, all of us thinking about it, talking about it, sending it to each other via texts and e-mails that read something to the effect of, “Have you heard!?” The phrase “life imitates art” shot out of us like a tick. News features asking, “What is sex addiction?” followed.

If you want to see the real reason why David Duchovny got shipped off to sex-addiction rehab … check out Californication. It’s crazy. Crazy awesome. Duchovny plays Hank Moody, a sex-crazed, alcohol-drinking, pott-smoking, writer’s-block-ridden father, who is struggling to create his new masterpiece, be a good role model, and win back the love of his life, his ex-wife Karen.

The last episode ended with Karen’s wedding. She decides to leave her hubby-to-be and run away with Hank … But I have my doubts that it will be happily ever after for this troubled twosome. We shall see. Season two premieres tonight on Showtime.

David Duchovny has signed on to play a father living a lie in the upcoming dramedy, The Joneses, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor, who entered rehab last month for sex addiction, will star alongside Demi Moore, Amber Heard and Gary Cole in the film about a faux family feigning the picture of a perfect clan as a marketing ploy to introduce luxury products to neighborhoods.
Duchovny will play the bogus father, who is currently undergoing a “crisis of confidence” due to the phony life he’s leading, while Moore will portray the career-driven mother who’s struggling with her growing affection for Duchovny’s character.
Heard, who most recently appeared in Pineapple Express, will play their fake daughter, who herself is putting the moves on Duchovny’s character while looking for a rich sugardaddy.
Cole, who will next be seen on Chuck, will play a neighbor.
Echo Lake’s Doug Mankoff and Andy Spaulding will produce the flick with Kirsti Zea (Goodfellas). Filming starts next month in Atlanta.
